Purpose & Scope of Meeting and Workshops:
The NSLS Annual Users' Meeting is a forum for reporting new research results and advances in experimental capabilities that utilize synchrotron radiation, hosted and sponsored by the National Synchrotron Light Source Users' Association, an external organization representing the users of the NSLS. The NSLS community includes both scientists who only occasionally use the NSLS to supplement a laboratory-based research program and those whose programs are based at one or more NSLS beamlines.
The Users' Meeting brings together scientists from many diverse disciplines to share their recent accomplishments and visions of the future. It also provides them with the opportunity to visit with old friends and to forge new relationships. The focus of our meeting is on the science produced at the NSLS and we especially encourage the infrequent or new synchrotron user to attend. The Users' Meeting is an ideal time to interact with the wide variety of scientists who make the NSLS a most productive user facility.
Through workshops, invited talks, the poster session, and exhibits showing new advancements in equipment and instrumentation, and the informal interactions, there will be numerous opportunities to learn about new frontiers in synchrotron-based experimentation and how these will impact your research interests.
The annual meeting and workshops are supported by registration fees paid by the participants. Social events, lunches, coffee breaks and associated expenses are provided to registered attendees, primarily by our vendors and sponsors, and in part by the Brookhaven National Laboratory's Light Sources Directorate. The Users' Meeting Planning Committee consists of users and staff of the National Synchrotron Light Source. Administrative support for the meeting is provided by BNL's National Synchrotron Light Source Department.
The Users' Executive Committee (UEC) , the association's elected body, cordially invites all BNL employees to attend Tuesday's Early Morning Plenary Session, free of charge. All other sessions are dedicated to scientific talks (registration and a nominal fee are required). BNL employees and guests are warmly invited to register for these sessions, the workshops and other events.
We hope to see you at the 2004 NSLS Users' Meeting being held at Brookhaven National Laboratory, May 16-19.
