2006 NSLS/CFN Joint Users' Meeting

Brookhaven National Laboratory

May 15-17, 2006

Purpose & Scope of Meeting and Workshops:

The Joint NSLS and CFN Users' Meeting is a forum for reporting new research results and advances in experimental capabilities that utilize synchrotron radiation and highlight nanoscience. The Joint Users' Meeting is hosted and sponsored by the National Synchrotron Light Source Users' Association, the Center for Functional Nanomaterials Users' Association, and external organizations representing the users of the NSLS and the CFN.

These user communities include scientists who only occasionally use the facilities to supplement a laboratory-based research program as well as those with programs based at one or more NSLS beamlines and/or CFN facilities. The Users' Meeting brings together scientists from many diverse disciplines to share their recent accomplishments and visions of the future. It also provides an opportunity to visit with old friends and to forge new relationships.

The focus of our Meeting is on the science produced at the NSLS and at the CFN, and we especially encourage infrequent or new facility users to attend. The Users' Meeting is an ideal time to interact with the wide variety of scientists who carry out research enabled by the NSLS and the CFN, and thus have a stake in the development, capabilities and operation of these facilities. Through workshops, invited talks, the poster session, and exhibits showcasing new advancements in equipment and instrumentation, there will be numerous opportunities to learn about new frontiers in synchrotron-based and nanoscience experimentation and how these advances will impact your research interests.

This joint Meeting and associated workshops are supported by registration fees paid by the participants. Social events, lunches, and coffee breaks are provided to registered attendees primarily by our vendors and sponsors, and in part by the Brookhaven National Laboratory's Light Sources Directorate and the CFN. The Users' Meeting Planning Committee consists of users and staff of the National Synchrotron Light Source and the Center for Functional Nanomaterials. Administrative support for the meeting is provided by BNL's NSLS and CFN Departments.

The Users' Executive Committees (UEC), the associations' representative body, cordially invites all BNL employees to attend Monday's (May 15) Early Morning Plenary Session, free of charge. All other sessions are dedicated to scientific talks (registration and a nominal fee are required). BNL employees and guests are warmly invited to register for these sessions, the workshops, and other events.

We hope to see you at the 2006 Joint NSLS and CFN Users' Meeting being held at Brookhaven National Laboratory, May 15-17.

Kind regards,

Users' Executive Committees of the National Synchrotron Light Source and the Center for Functional Nanomaterials Users' Associations
