Workshop 3: Synchrotrons 101: Accelerator, Science and Applications

Date: Monday, May 20, 2019

Organizer(s): Lisa Miller (NSLS-II/BNL), Noel Blackburn (OEP/BNL) and Aleida Perez (OEP/BNL)

Location: Berkner Hall, Room B, Bldg. 488

Access to the the BNL User Facilities is multistep process that requires a proposal submission and an understanding of the capabilities of the facility.   The goal of this workshop is to provide college faculty, undergraduate/graduate students, and high school teachers with an entry-level introduction on how to access the research tools made available at the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II).  Through a series of topic-based lectures and discussions, participants will learn about the operations of the NSLS-II, techniques, beamline selection, and the proposal submission process.  Through generous sponsorship from the Users’ Executive Committee, this workshop is offered to the community free of charge.
